NADČASOVOSŤ MISIE SVÄTÝCH KONŠTANTÍNA-CYRILA A METODA VO SVETLE ENCYKLIKY SLAVORUM APOSTOLI (TEOLOGICKÁ REFLEXIA)
[The Timelessness of Constantine Cyril’s and Methodius’s Mission in the Light of the Encyclical Slavorum Apostoli (A Theological Reflection)]
Abstract: The sporadic opening of the topic of Cyril’s and Methodius’s heritage, along with the corresponding emphasis on the Christian values that are part of it, is not purposeless. While the principles that constitute its foundation have their timelessness, they are also able to address specifically the people of the 21st century. Saint Cyril and Methodius transformed them into actual time and space by their comprehensive evangelization, which also made them the creators of the new society, sacral as well as profane (secular). This article, being a theological reflection of the papal Encyclical Slavorum apostoli, points out Cyril’s and Methodius’s way of approaching the human being who is both, a member of human society as well as an integral part of the eternal plan of the Maker – a plan that includes him (the human being) as well as the whole created world. The aim of the article is to appraise some super-temporal principles, by which Saint Cyril and Methodius executed their mission in the light of the mentioned papal document. Even 1150 years later, the residuum of their mission remains in our present society, although, often only implicitly.
